National Bullying Prevention Month

Posted by Bethany Beaudrie on Oct 5, 2018 3:20:37 PM

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. A visit to stopbullying.gov reminds us that bullying can happen in a variety of ways. By definition, bullying is unwanted aggressive behavior; observed or perceived power imbalance; and repetition of behaviors or high likelihood of repetition.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Education, bullying can take place through direct or indirect forms. In addition to these two forms, there are four different types of bullying. These are physical, verbal, relational, and property damage. With bullying taking place in situations both in person and online, it is essential to be aware of ways to help prevent bullying. We love the resources to prevent bullying available at stopbullying.gov. Additionally, we'd like to share some of our favorite resources from the boclips for Teachers platform.
